Police: Tampered wallets cost Singapore users $2.7M

Singapore police said in an October 28, 2026, advisory that at least two cases involving tampered Ledger hardware wallets had been reported since September 10, 2026, with combined losses of about 3.5 million Singapore dollars ($2.7 million). Preliminary investigations found malicious components in wallets bought from some retail stores in Singapore. Police investigations are ongoing, and Ledger is reviewing the affected cases.

The reports preceded the incident’s wider public disclosure on October 9. Ledger said on October 13 that it had asked retailers in Singapore and six other markets to suspend device sales while investigations continued; it did not say sales had been suspended.
