The US Department of Homeland Security ordered federal civilian agencies to remove DeepSeek products from their IT systems and stop new purchases. The order also covers DeepSeek affiliates and third-party products and services developed using DeepSeek implementations. The restrictions took effect immediately upon publication of the order.
DHS warned that use of DeepSeek by government employees and contractors could expose sensitive information to China, and cited security vulnerabilities in DeepSeek’s iOS app.
