Visa and crypto payments network Mesh announced a partnership intended to let consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances from participating digital wallets at merchants on Visa’s network. Mesh said users would not need to move funds to a bank account or get a separate crypto card, and merchants would not need to change their checkout systems. Participating wallets, supported devices and launch dates have not yet been announced.
Mesh said it will handle transaction funding, currency conversion, customer onboarding and Know Your Customer requirements. Visa’s network covers more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories, but the announcement did not say where or when the wallet feature will be available.
