World announced that World ID for Zoom is available globally to Zoom enterprise customers through the Zoom Marketplace, following limited beta testing. The feature displays a “Human Badge” to other meeting participants after comparing an image captured by World’s iris-scanning Orb, a live selfie and the participant’s video feed. World says it is designed to show that a real, unique human is present; the source does not say it verifies the person’s claimed identity.
The rollout follows reported cases of AI-generated impersonation in video meetings, including a 2024 fraud in which an Arup employee transferred about $25 million after scammers impersonated executives.
