Debunking Myths: Water Crisis Predictions Refuted

Stakeholders within Polkadot’s ecosystem have refuted claims that the network’s Treasury will run dry within two years. A recent report had raised concerns by suggesting that the project’s spending would only sustain operations for two years.

Ben McMahon, the Ecosystem Lead at Hydration, emphasized that the Treasury is continually replenished by the network’s token inflation. He clarified that treasury funds are allocated to marketing, liquidity campaigns, DeFi infrastructure, ecosystem audits, and security initiatives.

Filippo Franchini, a technical educator at Polkadot’s Web3 Foundation, added that the Treasury holds less than 2% of the DOT supply. He assured that the network would remain operational even if the Treasury were depleted.

The Treasury operates like a DAO, with spending decided by DOT holders through on-chain voting. This ensures transparent and automated execution of funds.

The strategic importance of Polkadot’s Treasury lies in its design to continuously accumulate and support the ecosystem, ensuring long-term sustainability.
