The latest survey by Grayscale Investments reveals that 53% of U.S. voters plan to support a pro-cryptocurrency candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Conducted by The Harris Poll, the survey involved 1,768 participants and was conducted in two phases—November 2023 and April-May 2024.
According to the survey, 49% of Americans are now familiar with cryptocurrencies, up from 47% in the first phase. Additionally, 47% intend to add cryptocurrencies to their investment portfolios soon, reflecting a 7% increase. This is largely due to concerns over economic stagnation and geopolitical uncertainties.
Significantly, 53% of voters are inclined to vote for candidates who support the crypto industry. This underscores the increasing political importance of cryptocurrency. However, there is no clear consensus on which political party supports crypto more, as Democrats and Republicans received equal support.
Key issues for voters include high inflation (28%), the state of the economy (14%), and concerns about firearms (12%). These issues are driving interest in alternative financial systems like cryptocurrencies.
As the 2024 election approaches, candidates’ positions on crypto could be crucial. Vice President Kamala Harris, expected to represent the Democratic Party, has been urged to adopt a favorable stance on cryptocurrencies, with potential involvement in events like the Bitcoin Conference 2024.
This survey highlights the growing awareness and interest in cryptocurrencies among the U.S. electorate. Candidates’ crypto positions could significantly influence voter behavior and the broader market landscape, making it a pivotal issue in the 2024 election.
