Crypto Exchanges Still Liable Despite Disclosure

SEC Chairman Gary Gensler recently warned cryptocurrency exchanges that disclosing risk information won’t exempt them from legal accountability. In an interview, Gensler emphasized the SEC’s authority to enforce laws against non-compliant crypto platforms.

Highlighting the issue of market manipulation, Gensler pointed out that misleading information published by crypto companies can lead to legal consequences. He stressed that transparency is crucial, noting that many crypto firms fail to disclose essential data, thereby increasing risks for consumers.

Earlier, Gensler had criticized a bill defining crypto assets and stressed the need for regulatory clarity in the crypto market. As the SEC intensifies its scrutiny, exchanges must prioritize compliance and transparency to avoid legal repercussions and build user trust. The evolving regulatory measures will significantly impact the crypto market’s future.
