Gemini Compensates Earn Program Users $50 Million #Crypto

Gemini cryptocurrency exchange will compensate $50 million to users affected by the Earn program, benefiting over 230,000 investors, including 29,000 from New York. This settlement was announced by New York Attorney General Letitia James and ensures automatic access to their digital assets for affected customers.

The settlement guarantees full restitution for defrauded investors unable to withdraw funds when the Earn program collapsed. Gemini is now prohibited from operating cryptocurrency lending programs in New York and must cooperate with the Attorney General in ongoing legal actions.

Previously, Gemini paid $2.18 billion to Earn program participants, covering 232% of initial obligations. This additional $50 million signifies their effort to rebuild trust within the crypto community.

This resolution not only provides investor relief but also sets a precedent for regulatory scrutiny in the cryptocurrency industry. It underscores the importance of transparency, potentially influencing future regulations and investor protections.
