Paxos, the issuer of the PayPal USD (PYUSD) stablecoin, has announced a 20% workforce reduction, impacting 65 employees. This decision aims to better position the company for opportunities in tokenization and stablecoins.
Co-founder and CEO Charles Chad Cascarilla stated that the move would help Paxos maximize emerging digital assets opportunities. Despite the cuts, Paxos maintains a strong financial position with over $500 million on its balance sheet.
Affected employees will receive a severance package that includes 13 weeks of pay, three months of medical insurance, and relocation assistance. The workforce now ranges between 200 and 300 employees.
This strategic adjustment reflects broader trends in the cryptocurrency sector, underscoring the need for adaptability in a rapidly evolving market.
