NBU Chief Discusses Bank Card Limits

The Head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is addressing potential limits on bank card transactions, specifically P2P transactions. The NBU has been engaging with volunteers in the second round of discussions to gather opinions on these proposed restrictions.

First announced in February 2024 by First Deputy Chairperson Kateryna Rozhkova, the plan includes limiting outgoing transactions to 30 per month and capping transaction volumes at 100,000 UAH monthly. This move marks a significant step in regulating financial transactions, particularly those involving cryptocurrencies.

These changes could significantly impact the crypto sector by limiting liquidity and transactional freedom, which are crucial for its ecosystem. The NBU aims to ensure transparency and public understanding of these measures. Effective public engagement and adapting to compliance requirements will be essential for stakeholders.

Understanding and adapting to these evolving regulations is crucial for long-term financial stability and strategic growth.
