Report: DeepSeek Raised $15 Billion to Compete

Chinese AI startup DeepSeek raised about 100 billion yuan ($15 billion) in a funding round, Bloomberg reported on Oct. 22, 2026, citing people familiar with the matter. The source does not give a date for when the round closed. Battery maker CATL and Tencent were among its largest participants, according to the report.

The financing is expected to support DeepSeek’s computing infrastructure and AI models as it competes with OpenAI and Anthropic. DeepSeek is also preparing for a potential public listing, Bloomberg reported; no listing has been announced.
