Riot Platforms Acquires Bitfarms in Major Deal

Riot Platforms has made a second bid to acquire Bitfarms, offering $2.3 per share. This offer surpasses the market price and aims to create the world’s largest public Bitcoin miner.

Previously, Bitfarms rejected an offer from Riot Platforms in April 2024. Riot already owns 10% of Bitfarms shares, strengthening its position for negotiations.

The proposed deal, valued at nearly $1 billion, reflects a trend of consolidation in the cryptocurrency mining industry, especially significant post-halving.

Bitfarms has again declined the offer, claiming it undervalues the company. They also noted Riot did not sign a standard confidentiality agreement, which is usually expected in such deals.

This potential merger could reshape the market landscape, highlighting the dynamic nature of the cryptocurrency sector and the strategic moves within it.
