Chainalysis Begins Restoring Screening After Password-Hash Exposure

Chainalysis said on November 6 that it had begun restoring access to its Know Your Transaction (KYT) and address-screening products in phases after a cyberattack. It had not confirmed full restoration of every affected product, and said wider access depended on validating enhanced security controls.

In a November 4 update, the company said an attacker had obtained users’ names, usernames, password hashes and live tokens. Chainalysis said it had no evidence of access to investigation content or manipulation of its attribution data at the time of its updates; that does not rule out every possible effect. It told customers to provide trusted IP addresses for allowlisting and prepare to reset passwords and rotate API keys as access returns.
