LND Tests Guardrail Against Extreme Fee Estimates

LND’s October 22 release candidate, v0.21.5-beta.rc1, is a pre-release, not a final release. Its notes say external fee estimates previously had a lower bound but no upper bound. The candidate caps those estimates at 10,000 satoshis per virtual byte before they reach fee-sensitive wallet operations, and also bounds the API’s minimum-relay estimate. The cap is a guard against extreme values, not a claim that such a fee is normal or needed.

The release page says the build requires no database migration and provides instructions to verify downloaded binaries. Verification does not show how the build will behave in every node configuration. The notes also describe a native SQL connection-pool deadlock fix; application testing and a final release decision remain separate steps.
