Former FBI agent Patrick Steven Yaroch pleaded guilty on November 5, 2026, to wire fraud and money laundering after stealing about $2.47 million in cryptocurrency using credentials collected in FBI investigations, the Justice Department said. Prosecutors said he made about 100 fraudulent transfers using credentials from 35 investigations. According to the plea agreement, his actions compromised multiple investigations and foreign intelligence sources and methods.
Yaroch faces up to 20 years in prison; sentencing is scheduled for March 4, 2027. An FBI affidavit said agents transferred about $925,000 from accounts linked to him into government-controlled wallets, but roughly $165,600 held as U.S. dollars on Kraken could not be moved the same way.
