Metallica Hacked: Scam Promotion on X Account

The official Metallica account on X (formerly Twitter) was hacked, promoting a fake cryptocurrency token called METAL. Posts falsely claimed partnerships with Ticketmaster and MoonPay, leading to a suspected scam.

The fraudulent posts included a contract address for the METAL token and suggested it had launched on pump.fun within the Solana network. MoonPay quickly denied any involvement and warned users about the scam.

This is not the first time Metallica has faced such issues; a similar scam occurred in December 2022. Other celebrities, like Hulk Hogan, have also been targeted by these scams.

This incident underscores the need for heightened vigilance and robust security measures in the crypto community. As scams become more sophisticated, it’s crucial to verify information and protect private keys. The event highlights the ongoing vulnerabilities in social media and the importance of continuous awareness.
