Teng Addresses Binance Cyberattack Fallout, Security Measures

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said the FBI linked a months-long cyberattack on the exchange to North Korea. He said the attackers used fake job interviews, malware disguised as developer tools and AI technologies to gain access.

Teng said Binance had covered the incident’s financial costs so users would not bear losses, but had replenished only 98% of the affected tokens by the time of his interview. He said the remaining 2% were less liquid tokens being bought gradually to avoid sharply affecting prices. Binance said it closed the attackers’ known entry points and rebuilt compromised systems; Teng said withdrawals resumed in stages and had effectively returned to normal.
