Attackers stole roughly $6.4 billion from Binance hot wallets across about 10 blockchains, according to the newsletter. Binance first blamed a compromised employee laptop but later reported additional breach points; it said no private keys leaked. Binance and Bybit attribute the attack to TraderTraitor, a North Korea-linked group.
Binance reopened withdrawals and set aside more than $6.34 billion in company funds to cover the stolen assets. QCP reported $3.64 billion in net outflows after withdrawals resumed. The FBI and Secret Service opened investigations.
U.S. Bitcoin ETFs recorded $643.3 million in net outflows on Friday, turning October’s net flow from a $127 million gain to a $515.9 million loss. The newsletter describes this as fallout from the hack, but does not establish that the hack caused the ETF outflows.
