North Korea Denies $6.3B Binance Hack

North Korea denied U.S. findings that it was behind the theft of more than $6 billion from Binance, calling the FBI’s attribution a “grave political provocation.” The FBI attributed the theft to a North Korean group it calls TraderTraitor; blockchain analytics firms had also linked the group to the hack.

Chainalysis said that, as of November 2, 2026, more than $1 billion in stolen ETH and about $1.42 billion in BTC had seen limited onward movement, while other funds were moving rapidly across chains. Binance said net withdrawals since withdrawals resumed on Sunday reached $4.72 billion, but hourly deposits exceeded withdrawals by late Monday. It said users holding its 10 largest tokens could verify their balances against an October 31 reserves snapshot; its plan for a wider snapshot was still pending.
