Thailand to Block Bitget Over Unlicensed Crypto Trading

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, the operator of Bitget, alleging that it ran the crypto exchange without a license. The complaint is under investigation; prosecutors will decide whether to bring charges, and courts will determine any criminal liability.

The SEC said it had asked the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to Bitget’s website, associated domains and mobile app from Dec. 5. It advised users to take action on assets held on the platform before then. The SEC said Bitget offered trading services from 2022 to 2025, charged fees and promoted its services in Thai; Bitget did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
