The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has teamed up with CoinDesk to launch Bitcoin options using the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (XBX). This marks a significant step in merging traditional finance with cryptocurrency.
The XBX index, the oldest continuous Bitcoin price index, updates every second and tracks prices across multiple exchanges. This ensures traders get accurate and timely data.
John Herrick of NYSE highlighted that the collaboration is driven by rising investor interest in spot Bitcoin ETFs. These options will be settled in fiat currency, providing stability for investors.
Although launch dates are not yet disclosed, NYSE is working with regulators for a smooth release. This move follows similar developments by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and regulatory actions by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
This partnership signals growing acceptance of digital assets and lays the groundwork for future innovations in crypto-financial products.
