South Korean crypto exchange GOPAX suspended deposits, standard withdrawals and trading after receiving an email threatening a hack, according to Kyunghyang Shinmun. A GOPAX representative told the newspaper that no hack or attempted theft had occurred at that point.
GOPAX said deposits and standard withdrawals stopped at 5:55 a.m. UTC, and trading stopped at 6:53 a.m. UTC. It canceled all unfilled orders. Customers can still request withdrawals through its support center, though GOPAX warned that manual checks and approvals could delay them. The exchange said it plans to move all crypto assets to offline wallets, citing regulators’ recommendations.
