Phantom Wallet, a popular app for accessing Solana’s web3 ecosystem, has surpassed Facebook and ChatGPT in the Google Play Store’s U.S. rankings. In April, it ranked #11 in free downloads, just behind Cash App and Snapchat, with an estimated 770,000 downloads according to appfigures data.
Originally designed for Solana (SOL) tokens, Phantom now supports Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Polygon (MATIC). It also secured the third spot in the Apple App Store’s utility category in May, behind Google and Google Chrome. This surge in popularity is reflected in its 7 million active monthly users as of April, signaling growing adoption.
Phantom’s acquisition of Bitski aims to integrate a browser extension for easier onboarding and a better user experience, allowing wallet creation with just an email address. This user-friendly approach is expected to boost decentralized application (dapp) interactions.
