Uniswap Foundation Discloses $41M Holdings Ahead of Critical Fee Vote

The Uniswap Foundation has announced that on-chain voting for a new fee mechanism proposal will take place by May 31. This news has driven the value of UNI up by 12.31%, now trading at $11.29.

The proposal aims to implement an autonomous fee collection system for Uniswap V3 pools. If approved, ownership of the mainnet UniswapV3Factory will shift to a new V3FactoryOwner instance. The vote will address the structure but not activate the fees, which will be decided later.

In February, the Foundation suggested a fee reward system for UNI holders to encourage governance participation, receiving strong initial support despite potential legal hurdles from the SEC.

Uniswap revealed holdings totaling $41.41 million in fiat and stablecoins, plus 730,000 UNI tokens. This transparency is intended to build trust ahead of the vote.

Uniswap is also in a legal dispute with the SEC, arguing the agency lacks jurisdiction over its decentralized protocol.

Long-term, this proposal could enhance the ecosystem by incentivizing active participation and ensuring more robust governance.
