Uniswap Launches UNIfication Governance Overhaul

Uniswap Proposes UNIfication for Governance and Structural Changes

  • The UNIfication proposal includes governance reform, token burns, and a unified growth strategy.
  • Uniswap plans to burn up to 100 million UNI tokens retroactively from the treasury.
  • The new model will introduce Protocol Fee Discount Auctions to allow traders to bid for lower fees.
  • From 2026, a yearly budget of 20 million UNI will be allocated for development and ecosystem growth.
  • A board of five members, including Hayden Adams and Devin Walsh, will lead the new operational structure.

UNIfication aims to transform Uniswap into the primary exchange for tokenized assets by implementing protocol fees that contribute to a UNI burn system. This significant overhaul seeks to align interests with long-term UNI holders while simplifying governance processes.

If approved, this proposal represents the largest change since UNI’s launch in 2020, aiming for enhanced stability and mutual benefits across the platform’s ecosystem through measures like the planned token burn of 100 million UNI.
