Canton Foundation Partners with Meritz Securities to Explore Tokenization in Korea

  • On October 15, the Canton Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Meritz Securities.
  • The partnership aims to explore tokenizing traditional financial assets and connecting them with international markets.
  • Meritz Securities will examine tokenized debt, institutional collateral, and cross-border liquidity.
  • Canton Network’s ecosystem includes over 1,000 institutions and has support from 62 major Super Validators.
  • Meritz Securities reported standalone shareholders’ equity of KRW 8.35 trillion won as of June, ranking fourth domestically.

The collaboration between the Canton Foundation and Meritz Securities is focused on converting domestic financial assets into blockchain-based tokens under Korea’s regulatory framework. This initiative also explores using digital representations of high-quality debt instruments as collateral across borders.

With over 1,000 institutions in its ecosystem, Canton Network is positioned to facilitate significant advancements in Korean capital markets through this partnership with Meritz Securities. The success of these initiatives will depend heavily on evolving securities regulations in Korea.
