Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas anticipates that spot Ethereum (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) will start trading in the U.S. by July 2. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reportedly sent minor comments on the S-1 filings, suggesting a swift approval process.
This development is a significant milestone for the cryptocurrency sector, with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler indicating that approval could happen by the end of summer. This follows the SEC’s May 23 approval of eight 19b-4 filings, a crucial step towards allowing exchanges to list these ETFs.
Ethereum ETFs stand out because they represent an advancement in the regulatory acceptance of cryptocurrencies, even though they may not garner as much attention as Bitcoin ETFs due to the lack of staking capabilities. As of now, Ethereum’s price is around $3,562.97, reflecting a recent 2.5% rise.
The approval of Ethereum ETFs marks a strategic move for the crypto industry, potentially paving the way for broader acceptance and integration of digital assets in traditional financial markets.
