Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake said he hopes to complete Ethereum’s post-quantum and post-AI transition by December 2028. Developers would need to deliver three more network upgrades within 24 months. His target does not formally replace the foundation’s existing December 2029 deadline for quantum resistance across Ethereum’s execution, consensus and data layers; the roadmap is due for reassessment in January 2027.
