Starknet’s community voted in a non-binding poll to support research into becoming an independent, post-quantum layer-1 blockchain. About 3,200 votes were cast, with 93.52% of voting power in favor. Starknet remains an Ethereum layer-2 network; any shift would require a separate, binding governance vote.
StarkWare and the Starknet Foundation have formed a working group to examine the proposal. StarkWare says it has processed a transaction on Starknet using technology designed to withstand future quantum attacks, but the technology remains experimental and has not had a security audit.
