Ethereum celebrates its ninth anniversary today, having launched on July 30, 2015. Co-founded by Vitalik Buterin, Gavin Wood, Joseph Lubin, and Charles Hoskinson, it’s now the second-largest blockchain.
Since its inception, Ethereum has processed 2.45 billion transactions and boasts over 7 million active users and 1 million validators. Its market cap exceeds $400 billion, with ETH priced over $3,000.
Major upgrades like the Merge and Dencun have transitioned it to a proof-of-stake system, reducing fees significantly. Recently, Ethereum ETF products were approved by the SEC, highlighting its market importance.
Buterin anticipates exciting developments in the next decade.
