In an October 21, 2026 engineering update, the Zcash Foundation said it had merged fixes for Zebra nodes that stopped syncing near the chain tip. The fixes were in the development branch, not a published release, so operators were not yet running them through a stable update. The foundation described Zebra 7.0.0 as the likely next stable NU7 release, not a completed release decision.
The foundation said Zebra 6.4.x is designed to stop around November 2, making an upgrade necessary for affected mainnet users. The report covered engineering work from October 6–19; it did not establish that the fixes had been deployed across the network.
