The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority opened consultations on guidance for decentralized finance companies and on exclusions from cryptoasset regulation. The DeFi guidance is intended to help firms comply with existing rules on money laundering and financial crime; the FCA said it seeks to clarify those rules, not create new policy.
The exclusions relate to a cryptoasset regime expected to take effect in October 2027, including rules on stablecoin holding arrangements and reserve assets. The FCA has opened applications for crypto firms, with a Feb. 28, 2027 deadline for companies seeking to comply.
