Britain’s crypto licensing clock runs before 2027

The UK Financial Conduct Authority opened its crypto authorisation gateway on September 30 for firms seeking permission under a broader regime due to take effect on October 25, 2027. The FCA says businesses intending to remain in the UK market should apply by February 28, 2027. An application is not an authorisation, and existing anti-money-laundering registration does not replace approval under the new framework.

Applicants must show they meet requirements covering safeguarding, market integrity, consumer protection and financial resilience. Approval in another country does not automatically satisfy the FCA.
