Mastercard launched Stablecoin Security, a tool for financial institutions to screen stablecoin payments for fraud, scams and sanctions exposure. It generates a risk score before a payment settles and is launching first in North America; worldwide availability is expected in 2027, not yet in place.
The tool uses a platform-agnostic API and launched with Borderless.xyz and Keyrails as initial program participants. Mastercard cited a Bank for International Settlements study of 593 million stablecoin transfers in 2025 that found nearly 60% were complex, multi-step transactions rather than simple one-to-one payments.
