State Street Launches $5.5T Stablecoin Fund

State Street Launches Stablecoin Reserves Money Market Fund

  • State Street has launched the State Street Stablecoin Reserves Money Market Fund, a government money market fund compliant with the GENIUS Act.
  • The fund aims to assist stablecoin issuers in meeting reserve requirements established by the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, enacted in July 2025.
  • Initial backers include State Street Bank and Trust Company and Anchorage Digital, a crypto banking firm.
  • Global stablecoin issuance is projected to grow between $1.9 trillion and $4 trillion by 2030, highlighting the increasing importance of stablecoins in financial infrastructure.
  • This launch follows similar initiatives from JPMorgan and BlackRock, which have also introduced funds aimed at stablecoin reserves.

The introduction of this fund marks a significant step for traditional asset management firms in adapting to new regulations surrounding stablecoins. With the GENIUS Act providing a clear regulatory framework, State Street combines its cash management expertise with regulated stablecoin infrastructure.

The establishment of this fund reflects the growing demand for robust reserve systems as global stablecoin issuance is expected to reach up to $4 trillion by the end of the decade.
