Stablecoin Issuers Target BlackRock Fund

Morgan Stanley Launches Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio

  • Morgan Stanley introduced a money market fund, the Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio (MSNXX), for stablecoin issuers.
  • The product is designed to comply with the GENIUS Act and manage reserves amid a rise in stablecoin issuers.
  • Circle’s reserves are primarily held in a BlackRock-managed fund valued at $78 billion as of Friday.
  • The total value of all stablecoins was $316 billion on Friday, according to CoinGecko.
  • Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin ETF has generated $173 million in net inflows since its debut earlier this month.

Morgan Stanley has launched the MSNXX to assist stablecoin issuers like Circle in managing their reserves, aligning with regulatory requirements under the GENIUS Act. This move comes amid growing interest and investment in stablecoins, which are projected to reach a $2 trillion market by the end of the decade.

With significant assets already managed by BlackRock for Circle and Morgan Stanley’s recent success with its Bitcoin ETF, the financial giant is positioning itself strategically within this rapidly expanding sector. (Source)
