Coinbase Pursues CFTC Approval for SHIB, AVA Futures

Coinbase has applied for regulatory approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to offer futures products for altcoins, including SHIB and AVA. If approved, trading could start by July 15.

This move marks a significant expansion in Coinbase’s offerings, enabling traders to manage risk and speculate on price movements with new derivatives tied to DOT, SHB, XLM, AVA, and LNK.

By introducing these products, Coinbase aims to diversify its portfolio and improve trading experiences with less capital required upfront. This aligns with their strategy to increase accessibility while adhering to strict U.S. regulatory standards.

A standout feature is Coinbase’s strategic partnership with Stripe, which will expedite transactions and integrate USDC on Stripe’s Base platform, enhancing transaction speed and affordability across 150 countries.

Notably, AVA leads with a market capitalization of $11.1 billion, making it a key focus among the proposed altcoins. This effort aims to attract more institutional investors by ensuring a regulated trading environment, crucial for building trust in the volatile crypto market.

Overall, these initiatives highlight Coinbase’s commitment to expanding its market presence and enhancing investor confidence in the crypto economy.
