Teleport, a new rideshare service built on the Solana blockchain, has launched in a genesis city with 857 registered drivers. Solana co-founder Raj Gokal remarked, “Onchain Uber has been a popular idea in crypto for some time now. This one could actually work.”
Teleport is developed by the Decentralized Engineering Corporation (DEC) and uses the TRIP rideshare protocol. Unlike Uber, which takes 44% of ride fares, Teleport only takes 15%, benefiting both riders and drivers.
The TRIP protocol leverages onchain rewards to reduce recruitment costs, offering a more equitable rideshare ecosystem. This decentralized model promises lower ride costs for users and higher earnings for drivers.
Key components of the TRIP protocol include riders, drivers, operators, a marketplace governed by a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), balancers, verifiers, and auditors. This ensures a fair and decentralized operation.
Gokal’s positive outlook on Teleport’s launch underscores the potential for blockchain technology to revolutionize ridesharing, fostering innovation and fairer market dynamics.
