Wormhole has secured a grant from the Worldcoin Foundation to integrate World ID into the Solana blockchain. This move aims to enhance user identification on Solana using Worldcoin’s decentralized identity solution.
This integration stands out as it leverages the Ethereum to Solana State Bridge Service, ensuring secure and efficient identity verification across blockchains. By broadcasting World ID state roots from Ethereum to Solana, a smart contract on Solana will validate and store these roots, simplifying identity verification for Solana-based applications.
Key features include the SolanaWorldIDProgram, a new smart contract, and Wormhole Queries for secure data retrieval. The initiative improves security, interoperability, and offers new opportunities for developers to build privacy-centric applications.
Worldcoin has also introduced enhanced privacy measures, like Personal Custody and Unverify World ID, to address regulatory concerns and protect user data. This strategic upgrade underscores Worldcoin’s commitment to privacy-preserving technologies.
Following the announcement, Worldcoin’s WLD price surged to $2.83, and Solana’s SOL saw a 9.11% rally, though the latter also benefited from the VanEck Solana ETF application.
This integration marks a significant step towards more secure and interoperable digital identity verification, fostering long-term growth and innovation in the blockchain ecosystem.
