XRP Healthcare has decided to halt new staking activities for its XRPH token, as announced on July 23, to address concerns over the token’s limited supply of 100 million coins. The move reflects the firm’s shift towards real-world healthcare initiatives over digital token activities.
Existing stakes will remain until their terms end, but no new staking will occur. XRP Healthcare is expanding its services in Africa, particularly in Uganda, by investing in pharmacies, medical centers, and hospitals. Earlier this year, the firm also stopped the XRP to XRPH swap facility to manage the supply squeeze.
CEO Kain Roomes highlighted that black-holing the token-issuing account was crucial to fixing the supply at 100 million coins. This step aims to maintain the token’s value and scarcity, aligning with the firm’s strategic focus on mergers and acquisitions in Uganda.
Currently, the XRPH token trades at $0.03138. The token, launched in September 2022, operates on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) layer-1 blockchain, offering pharma-related services integrated with blockchain technology.
Chairman Whitney Lynn emphasized that securing the token’s finite supply aims to create lasting value for stakeholders while enhancing healthcare delivery through strategic investments. This decision underscores the long-term commitment to improving global healthcare.
