Casper Network Security Breach Contained, Network Halted

Blockchain platform Casper Network announced a “significant security breach” on July 27, 2024, leading to a suspension of operations. The breach has been contained, and the team is actively working on a solution.

The official update from the Casper Network team on July 28 confirmed that the network halt was a precautionary measure to minimize the breach’s effects. Despite the suspension, trading of CSPR, the native cryptocurrency, continues on exchanges, although it has seen a decline of over 15% in the past week.

Casper Network, with a market capitalization of over $230 million, emphasized that further updates would be provided soon. This incident highlights the ongoing vulnerability of crypto platforms to security breaches, following a recent $230 million hack of Indian exchange WazirX.
