Hamilton Lane, an alternative investment management firm, has launched the first private credit fund on the Solana blockchain. Investors can now access the Senior Credit Opportunities Fund (SCOPE) on Solana, marking Hamilton Lane as the first major investment manager to utilize this blockchain network.
This milestone is achieved through a partnership with Libre, a Web3 protocol backed by Brevan Howard and Nomura. The collaboration allows Hamilton Lane to issue and distribute its funds on-chain, pushing the democratization of finance by making institutional finance accessible to more investors beyond high-net-worth individuals.
The growing trend of tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) sees major investment firms like BlackRock also turning to blockchain. Onchain RWAs include traditional securities and financial assets such as private credit and real estate. Solana’s low latency and high throughput capabilities make it an attractive choice for such tokenizations.
Previously, Hamilton Lane had tokenized its SCOPE fund on Securitize, a digital securities issuance platform. This move underscores the strategic importance of blockchain in democratizing access to financial assets, offering more flexibility and global reach for investors.
