Tether announced plans to end USDT support on Algorand and EOS within the next 12 months, focusing on community-centric networks instead. This marks the first time since 2023 that Tether has discontinued its stablecoin on decentralized networks, following a similar move last August.
The decision reduces USDT-supported networks from 14 to 12, with users still able to redeem USDT on Algorand and EOS until next year. Native tokens ALGO and EOS saw slight declines and over 100% spikes in daily trading volumes.
By reallocating resources, Tether aims to enhance security and efficiency while supporting innovation across the crypto landscape. This strategic shift underscores Tether’s commitment to balancing maintainability, usage, and community interest, reinforcing long-term stability and growth in the industry.
