Binance hackers swap stolen Solana for Bitcoin

Lookonchain reported that hackers behind Binance’s $6.3 billion theft had moved 486,970 stolen Solana tokens, worth about $46.4 million, and were swapping them for Bitcoin through Relay. The funds had escaped freezes imposed after the theft. Industry partners froze about $3 billion in stolen assets, while investigator SomaXBT estimated the attackers still controlled about $3.5 billion.

Chainalysis said most of the hackers’ temporary holding wallets on Tron had been emptied. It valued Tron transfers at about $500 million, but SomaXBT said that figure counted repeated transfers between wallets and that about $242 million actually left the holding wallets. Binance said it had begun restoring withdrawals and pledged to cover the losses. The FBI attributed the theft to North Korea’s TraderTraitor hackers and, with two other US agencies, urged crypto services to block transactions tied to identified wallets.
