Polygon Fork Proposed for Hacked Crypto Recovery

Binance and Polymarket have proposed a one-time Polygon hard fork to move about 70.49 million POL from five addresses tied to their October 29 hacks into recovery wallets they control. Polygon block producers have already blocked the addresses, so the funds cannot move, but the companies say the current setup cannot return them.

The proposal would set the five balances to zero and credit the same amounts to the recovery wallets, leaving Polygon’s total supply unchanged. It would take effect only after governance approval, a test on the Amoy testnet and proof that the firms control the recovery wallets. The proposal values the tokens at roughly $6.5 million using an October 29 price.
