Ripple, Robinhood expand partnership to bring RLUSD to markets

Ripple and Robinhood announced an expanded partnership to bring the RLUSD stablecoin into Robinhood’s retail and institutional businesses. RLUSD is already available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, but its launch in the Robinhood app is planned for later this year. Robinhood also plans to use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement and to adopt Ripple Treasury for cash and liquidity management.

The companies also plan to add perpetual futures trading to Bitstamp through their existing Ripple Prime relationship later this year. Separately, Ripple said BNY now supports custody of XRP and RLUSD, while direct RLUSD minting and redemption for BNY clients remain planned. Ripple’s RLUSD-based financing and settlement service with C2FO is still in testing; a C2FO spokesperson said a controlled launch and its first transactions are expected by year-end.

Ripple also received final US approval to establish a national trust bank. The bank will manage RLUSD reserves and provide digital asset custody, while stablecoin issuance will remain with Ripple’s New York-regulated subsidiary.
