Singapore-headquartered cross-border payments firm Nium has raised $50 million in a new funding round, marking a 30% discount to its previous valuation. This Series E funding was led by an undisclosed Southeast Asian sovereign wealth fund, which values Nium at $1.4 billion, down from $2 billion in 2022.
Nium plans to use the proceeds to expand its global network, innovate its products, increase staff, and pursue mergers and acquisitions. Despite the lower valuation, CEO Prajit Nanu remains optimistic about Nium’s growth and aims for an IPO in Q3-Q4 of 2025. Founded in 2014, Nium has partnered with Ripple to enhance its cross-border payment capabilities using the RippleNet solution.
The decline in valuation reflects a broader market trend affecting fintech companies. However, Nium’s commitment to building robust payment infrastructure underscores its strategic importance in the fintech industry.
