Pro-XRP Lawyer Endorses Former CFTC Chair for SEC

John Deaton, an advocate for XRP, recently endorsed Chris Giancarlo, the former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman, for the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Deaton believes Giancarlo’s crypto-friendly approach, known as “Crypto Dad,” could lead to significant positive changes in SEC’s cryptocurrency and digital assets regulation. Giancarlo has a history of supporting innovation in the financial sector, balancing it with investor protection, evident from his “do no harm” philosophy and recent appointment to the board of Paxos, a leader in regulated crypto markets.

Under the current SEC chair, Gary Gensler, the commission faced criticism for its stringent regulations, particularly SAB 121, which the U.S. Senate voted to rescind due to perceived regulatory overreach. The proposed Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (FIT 21) seeks to clarify the regulatory framework for digital assets, marking a significant step toward transparent and fair regulation in the cryptocurrency space, with over 60 crypto organizations endorsing the bill.

Giancarlo’s potential leadership at the SEC could bridge the gap between cryptocurrency innovation and regulatory compliance, possibly ushering in a new era of digital asset management and investor protection.
