Solana emerged as the quickest blockchain network, outpacing rivals in a CoinGecko report, with an average of 1,504 transactions per second (TPS) recorded on April 6, spurred by the popularity of meme coins. This speed makes it 46 times faster than Ethereum and over five times swifter than Polygon, the leading Ethereum scaling solution. Despite this impressive feat, Solana has only tapped into 1.6% of its potential speed of 65,000 TPS.
Comparatively, BNB Chain and Polygon lead among EVM-compatible blockchains with 378 and 190 TPS, respectively. The surge in activity, including a significant interest in meme coins, contributed to most blockchains setting their TPS records recently. However, the rapid growth and interest in meme coins on Solana have also led to a rise in scam projects, with investors losing around $112 million in fraudulent schemes. The achievement underscores Solana’s potential to revolutionize transaction speeds in blockchain technology, although it also highlights challenges such as scam vulnerabilities.
