The Worldcoin Foundation announced a $70,000 grant to Wormhole on June 27 to support WorldID verification on the Solana blockchain. This integration will equip the Solana ecosystem with a vital tool for proving humanness.
The grant awards 25,000 WLD to Wormhole, which will facilitate the seamless verification of user IDs authenticated on Ethereum for Solana-based protocols. This will be achieved through Wormhole Queries, an Ethereum-Solana state bridge service that propagates World ID state roots between chains.
Wormhole highlighted several benefits, such as enabling new use cases and showcasing its multichain infrastructure’s versatility. The integration seeks to simplify verification for developers, ensure future compatibility, and enhance security and decentralization by preserving privacy.
Additionally, the initiative aims to improve cross-chain interoperability, allowing more decentralized apps to interact with Ethereum’s identity verification systems. It also supports financial inclusion by providing universal access to the digital economy.
The Worldcoin Foundation has also announced 16 other grants worth 289,000 WLD to various projects aimed at strengthening the Worldcoin ecosystem.
This strategic move will enhance Solana’s capabilities and foster a more inclusive digital economy.
